Find all Indian Railway trains running between any two stations. Enter the station name or code in the boxes below — suggestions will appear as you type. Select your stations and click Search Trains to view all available trains on that route.
Type the name or code of your departure station in the "From" box. A dropdown will suggest matching stations — click your station to select it. Repeat for the "To" box. Then click Search Trains to see all trains running between those two stations. If you are not sure of the station code, use our Station Code Search to look it up first.
The Trains Between Stations feature searches the Indian Railways timetable database to find all trains that stop at both your chosen origin and destination stations, in the correct direction of travel. For example, searching MAS (Chennai Central) to MDU (Madurai Junction) will show only trains where Madurai comes after Chennai in the route — not trains running in the opposite direction.
Tamil Nadu is well connected by rail with most major cities and towns accessible by train. For travel from Chennai to southern Tamil Nadu destinations like Madurai, Tirunelveli, and Nagercoil, trains depart primarily from Chennai Egmore (MS), not Chennai Central. Trains to Bangalore, Coimbatore, Mumbai, and Delhi depart from Chennai Central (MAS). For suburban travel within Chennai, the MRTS and EMU suburban network connects Beach, Egmore, Tambaram, Chengalpattu, and other stations at frequent intervals.
Booking train tickets is done through the official IRCTC website or the IRCTC Rail Connect mobile app. Tatkal tickets (short-notice booking at a premium) open 1 day before departure. General quota tickets can be booked up to 120 days in advance. Senior citizens (age 60+) and differently-abled passengers are eligible for fare concessions on production of valid proof.
What if no trains are shown between my stations?
If no direct trains appear, it may mean there is no direct service between those two stations in the database, or the station codes were entered incorrectly. Try using alternate station codes — for example, Chennai has multiple stations (MAS, MS, MSB) and some trains stop at one but not another. You may also need to look for connecting trains via an intermediate junction.
Why do some trains show on one route but not the reverse?
The search finds trains where your origin station appears before your destination in the route. If you search MAS→CBE (Chennai to Coimbatore), it will not show trains whose schedules list CBE before MAS. Try reversing the search (CBE→MAS) to find trains running in the opposite direction.
